Arizona Lawyers for Victims of Medical Malpractice Involving Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
A subarachnoid hemorrhage is a bleed in the area between the brain and the arachnoid tissues, those covering the outside of the brain. This area is called the subarachnoid space. Subarachnoid hemorrhages have a variety of causes including bleeding disorders, aneurysm, head injury, and the use of blood thinners. Trauma is the most common cause.
Symptoms of subarachnoid hemorrhage include altered mentation, sensitivity to bright light, neck and shoulder pain, nausea, numbness, seizure, and visual disturbances. Subarachnoid hemorrhage can be an emergent life-threatening condition which should be diagnosed and treated immediately. Treatments for subarachnoid hemorrhage are similar to those for subdural hematoma (discussed separately in another topic area) and include surgery to relieve pressure on the brain or to repair a bleeding vessel.
